With the latest site Pinterest spreading like wildfire you are able to find some of the neatest ideas out there. If you are like most people you find yourself getting addicted to browsing (even my husband is on now:).I recently was checking out ideas for my girls' birthday party and came across a neat idea.

From www.realsimple.com has posted a fantastic way to get rid of the mess and speed up the serving of ice cream and cake. Simply scoop your choice ice cream into cupcake liners and place trays in the freezer. Once you have cut your cake remove from the freezer and serve. Check out the details  here .

I'm sure many of you feel you are BUSY! In the world of work, home, kids, and in our case our addition time flies(though the work day may drag:) and it seems sometimes we're in a "let's get it done" kind of attitude instead of truly living each day and enjoying those around us particularly our families. I once heard you usually treat those closest to you the worst. Its probably because we are to busy to take the time to realize how we are making them feel. Well today's challenge is to slow down and do something special for someone in your family. For us I am spending the afternoon focusing on my husband. We love our kids, but need time to reconnect with each other so were going to lunch kid free. (Thanks for the Christmas Gift Cards:)

Mommy Tips & Tricks-Outwitting the Sock Monster

What I love more than anything is staying home with my girls, but when I quit my job and started staying home I found I had even more things to figure out and manage. Suddenly people were truley "living" in my home, so it became disorganized quite quickly. I resolved that I must find ways to make things run smoother for my household. I no longer had a full time job outside the home, my job was now a domestic engineer instead. I'm going to try and highlight some simple things in my "Mommy Tips & Tricks" that have helped me and other mommy's.

Today's  Tip comes from the sock monster. How many of you have one of those? I remember all through my childhood socks entered the laundry, but never returned. I wonder where they disappered to as they were never seen again. As a mom I began finding the same thing happening with socks in my home particularly with my little ones socks. The smaller they were the more likely they were to go missing. I decided to start using a delicates bag as pictured below. Each of my daughters have one and they hang on their door. Each evening we put their socks in them. Come laundry day I pull them tight and place in their hamper to be laundered. When they come out magically they are all still there ready to be paired. I have outwitted the sock monster!

Daily Challenge

My daughter so kindly woke me up at 4 am this morning and I couldn't fall back asleep so as I lie their restless I thought my to do list is huge today so how can I fit in a daily challenge as well? Then I realized it is huge because I have invited people over to my home whom I haven't seen in quite some time and whom have never been here. So I will spend my day attempting to clean up the drywall dust from all the corners of my home in preparation for this. So your daily challenge is to do as I am doing today, no not to clean up drywall dust.... haha, but to reconnect with someone you haven't seen it awhile. Send an email, give a call, or better yet meet an old friend for coffee just make the connection.

So today during nap time I was browsing Pinterest (because I obviously need to add to my ongoing to do list) and I found these chore cards. I thought what a neat idea for kids of all ages. Daily Challenge

Today I didn't have anything very inspirational for my daily challenge. I have a busy weekend ahead of me as usual and am trying to wipe the continual drywall dust up before we have visitors tomorrow. So as I'm wiping things down my daughters love to "clean". Today's challenge is to teach my girls to clean:). If you have a toddler at home, give them a wipe or wet rag. Let them wipe the walls, the floor, a toy whatever can't be damaged by water.  While they are doing that take the time to wipe down your counters, end table something that needs done. You know what it is... so get to it!

For those of you whom have older children, teach them to do something else around the house. Sort the laundry, fold the towels, run the sweeper. There are tons of age appropriate skills to teach our children to be better housekeepers for tomorrow.

Daily Challenge

So this morning I got my cup of cocoa and curled up on the couch to catch up on some Facebook since the little one I watch comes early today. As I'm scrolling through my news feed a post comes up from a friend(more of an acquaintance from high school days) with a picture of her beautiful daughter who would have celebrated her birthday today, but went to be with the Lord at a very, very young age. My heart grew heavy as no mother should have to bear that sadness. So today's challenge is to  do something special with your child(ren). Read to them one extra bedtime story, build a castle out of blocks, bake cookies, whatever it is that will let you slow down and cherish the moment with them. And if you may, please say a special unspoken request for this family today.

Daily Challenge

I love the idea of challenging myself everyday with something small or something big, just something.  Well today's challenge comes from this morning. My girls were eating their cheerios for breakfast as they usually do and Arya (just turned a year) began gagging  and coughing. I rushed over to check on her because she proceeded to choke on her cheerio. Thank you Jesus for the first aid classes you have had me take. Oh what a morning. However, after our little escapade I received a message from a friend just saying that she was praying for me and my family and our protection and hoped everything is going well with us.Wow again Thank you Jesus. So I decided my daily challenge should be to pray for a family I don't typically pray for. So pick someone today to pray for that you don't usually. A friend you haven't seen in awhile, you cashier at the grocery store, your child's school bus driver whomever it is just say an extra prayer for them today, you may never know how much it can mean to them.
