Daily Challenge

Last evening we delivered out act of kindness then went to visit with family. We spent the evening enjoying a wonderful meal and while the kids played we had wonderful conversation. We headed home after dark to end our evening and as we pulled up infront of our house we could see a shadowy mass in the backyard. Well upon further examination we found our the windstorm we had, had blown our massive swingset over and into the neighbors yard. I was heartbroken as it took quite a bit of time and hardwork to put up. However, it is far from the end of the world.
As I got into bed last night I realized that though I would have to tell my girls in the morning that their playset was broken that was minor to the mothers in other parts of the world that have to tell their children things like "sorry we have nothing to eat." So today as disappointed as I am my challenge is rejoice in the fact that no one was hurt and though we had a loss it was minor in perspective. So today's challenge is to be thankful for what we have because there are so many out there that wish they had what we do.

Daily Challenge

Our church has some awesome programs and one is a great Meal Ministry, where members of the congregation take meals to those who have been in the hospital. Weather they have had surgery, a baby, or other reasoning when they come home they need time to recoup. So we take meals to their families so that they may concentrate on healing and their families rather than what is for dinner.

Tonight I am blessed to take one of those meals to a family that has recently had a new addition to their family. I am able to prepare and drop off a meal for them while they treasure their new little one as we all know that time is gone so quickly. So, today's challenge is to do something nice for someone else. Practice a random act of kindness...buy the gentleman behind you his cup of coffee, walk the elderly ladies paper to her door, whatever it is just do something nice for someone else today.

Pinspired- Which Key's Which?

Let me start by saying I LOVE PINTEREST. It is full of tons of ideas that have inspired me and my favorite thing is not all of them take a ton of time and money, some are super simple.

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but the "tops" of my keys are all the same. I got them made at the same place so it is that they all match. That is fine for me because I have gotten used to it, but each time my husband needs to use my keys it is a nightmare. I have thought about investing in those little colored toppers to tell the difference, but honestly they aren't that important to be put into my tight budget. Then I saw and idea and loved it!!!!

Why not use nail polish to paint the tops. Most of you have it laying around the house somewhere making it inexpensive, you already like the colors or you likely wouldn't have them, and it would only take a few minutes you don't even have to leave the house. I painted each key with a different color and allowed it to dry before flipping and doing the other side. I do recommend using a paper towel underneath as the polish will drip through the hole of the key.

Well, as yo may have noticed this week's challenges have been about catching up on things I need to get done due to my kids being sick and today is just the same. Today I MUST tackle my paperwork. I have bills to file, a checkbook to balance, and tax information to find. I also need to make some buisness calls and enter items for a consignment sale I am participating.... oh the list goes on and on. So today's challenge is to tackle something on your to do list that needs to be done, but for some reason keeps getting booted to the bottom. Don't procrastinate do it now:)

Daily Challenge

Well today it is sunny and supposed to be in the higher 50s(as we usually are in a blizzard at this time of year, I am very excited). The beauty outside has got me excited for spring! I'm ready for gardening, playing outside, and yes even spring cleaning.


Today my challenge is to get my kitchen counter cleaned off. With the kids being sick things have gotten out of hand I have dishes that need put away, papers to file, etc. So today clear off your counter you will feel so much better looking at your kitchen and it being clean vs. cluttered.

As most of you know I've had sick kids the past week or so... so I am mighty behind to say the least. You would think staying  housebound for 5 days you'd get something accomplished, but I didn't. That being said I must get to the grocery store today so today's challenge is to complete your Meal Plan for the week if you have not done so and to create your shopping list. Dave Ramsey- Baby Step 2

Today's economy puts us to the test when it comes to our family's financial wellness. In general as a society we have become accustomed to borrowing from others to continue our lifestyles. Gone are the days of our grandparents where if you didn't have it, then you didn't spend it.

Dave gets back to this theory in his baby step 2. It is time to stop borrowing and start dumping the debt we have accumulated. For baby step 2, cut up those plastic borrowers and get back to using cash, debit, and checks. These things make you accountable for your purchases, you must have the money to spend it.

Now, list the debts you currently have smallest to largest (excluding your mortgage). This has no reference to interest rates or where you owe, but what the debt is owed the least and the most. Include all loans, credit cards, etc. Once you've done this it is time to start knocking out debt smallest to largest. As Dave explains "
Paying off debt is not always about math. It’s about motivation. Personal finance is 20% head knowledge and 80% behavior"

This step can take months to years depending on how long you have been borrowing. My husband and I completed this step and when we did God gave us a breath of fresh air because as I have heard Dave say.... "The borrower is slave to the lender"

My girls have been sick with fever and terrible coughs for days now and as I took a mommy break yesterday to run a few errands I spoke with a great friend of mine that said she was battling the same thing with her kids.
